Tokai Gakki Factory

Tokai Gakki Co., Ltd. was founded in 1947. Tokai has produced some wonderful replicas of Gibson and Fender, including the “Love Rock Model” and “Les Paul Reborn” series, the “Springy Sound” series and the “Breezy Sound” series.

Chushin Gakki was founded in 1948 by K. Miyazawa. Chushin Gakki made OEM guitars for Charvel and Jackson in the early 1980s, as well as their own designs, such as El Maya (EM series).

Kasuga started their own brand of guitars in the 1960’s and in the 1970’s made the Heerby and Ganson brands and partnered with Roland on a guitar synth. They and Tokai made Conrad guitars in the 1970s. In the 1980’s/1990’s they made guitars for Yamaha, Burny/Fernandes and the early Navigator.

Matsumoku was responsible for production in the ’70s and’ 80s for many brands of electric guitars such as Aria, Electra, Epiphone, Fantom, Greco, Ibanez, Skylark, Vantage, Washburn, Westone and Univox. The factory closed in 1987 and was demolished a few years later.

Dyna Gakki is a factory founded in 1973 in the city of Nagano in Japan. Dyna Gakki has made guitars and basses for major brands like Fender Japan, Greco and, for some time, for Fernandes – Burny.

  1. I’m an italian guitarist and artist. I own a fantastic probably japanese copy of Gibson J200 made in mid ’70. The only difference is the bridge, that in my guitar looks like a bat with three pearly inlays. The label is N. Rodriguez. I found almost nothing by searching. Can you please tell me more about it? Thanks a lot. Luigi.
