If Kawai, founded in 1927, is better known today for its high-end pianos, the brand has produced excellent guitars including the legendary Moon Sault.
I present here a Kawai Aquarius AQ 450 LPB (Lake Placid Blue) manufactured in 1983 with solid alder body, one-piece maple neck and maple fingerboard. The pickups are Kawai SMH (Super Metal Humbucker). On the electronic side, 1 selector with 3 positions, 1 volume, 1 push-pull tone to switch from single pickup to humbucker. A precise sound, incisive in humbucker mode, crystalline in single pickup mode. This is less common than a Leo Fender guitar but just as well made and more versatile. I like its shape between a Gibson SG and a Fender Stratocaster.
