This is a great resource, thanks for creating it. You have more Kawai info than I have seen anywhere else (I have a Kawai MS-1000 Moonsault, believed to be 1978-79, but I can’t find any info regarding dating them by their serial numbers.)
I notice that you don’t have any info for Takamine solid body electrics. They did build a few models from 1983-85 (possibly longer, but these are the only ones I am aware of.) I discovered this when I found (and bought) a Takamine GX-100T (a very nice set-neck Explorer type with an angled headstock and a Fender-style vibrato.) They are unique unto themselves (distinct from the Matsumoko/FujiGen/etc. guitars from that time) and their serial numbering is consistent with Takamine factory acoustic guitars from the same period. My GX-100T is a high quality guitar that plays beautifully and is more comfortable than an actual Gibson Explorer.
I have since gotten my hands on a 1983 Takamine brochure of their solid body guitars; the GX-100, 200, and 300 series, available with either Gibson-style bridge and tailpiece, or Fender-style tremolo block. The brochure is only a few pages, but I can scan it and send it to you if you would like to add it to your site. Please feel free to contact me at rhe email address provided if you want the brochure.
Hello Glenn,
It would be great to add a Takamine solid body guitar brochure to the blog!
I’m going to send you an email to your address.
Thanks in advance!
